MaryJane H. Romajas

MaryJane H. (McLellan) Romajas, 84, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2023 at her home. She was the loving wife of John “Jack” A. Romajas for nearly 60 years.

MaryJane was born on November 3, 1938 in S. Portland, Maine to the late Leo and Thelma (Blake) McLellan.

MaryJane loved all animals, especially horses and dogs. She was a renowned trainer and breeder of shelties for many years and was a member of the Cheshire Dog Club. Horseback riding was a passion, and she was also a member of the CT Trail Riders Association. Locally she coordinated horseshoeing services and trail rides for fellow horse owners.

For a time, Leather working was her pastime, creating leather belts, purses, wallets, and saddle bags with hand-tooled scenes and designs. Yet more talent was evident in her paintings, and even as a seamstress, sewing clothing, curtains, and teddy bears for all. She was an avid gardener and was able to make anything grow in her gardens.  MaryJane was both an excellent cook and baker, no one made Baked Alaska dessert like she did!

In addition to her husband Jack, MaryJane is survived by her children, Cindy Parade and husband Steven of Amston, Colleen Crosbie and husband Owen of Terryville, Bruce Romajas and wife Mary of Amston, Brenda Pajor and husband Alan of Plantsville and Karen Romajas and partner Shawn Rutledge of Southington; 13 grandchildren; Jeremy, Alex, Tanner, Gabriel, Garrett, Donna, Mark, Stephanie, Danielle, Melissa, Corin, Rebecca, and Samuel;  and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Maryjane was predeceased by one brother, Daniel McLellan.

The family would like to thank Trinity Health of New England at Home Hospice for their support and services.

They would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Brittney, whose dedication and precious time spent with MaryJane meant so much to her.

A special thanks also goes out to Jenna and Inez, who supported and provided the best care to MaryJane a family could ask for.
