Maurice L. Cayer

Maurice L. Cayer, 95, of Lakeland, FL and formerly of Southington, CT, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.  He had been the loving husband of the late Margaret M. (Mulligan) Cayer for 60 years.

Maurice was born on August 16, 1928 in Bristol, CT to the late Ubald and Mabel (Morel) Cayer. Maurice proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He will be most remembered for his devotion to his loving family. Maurice, along with his wife Margaret, were founding members of St. Aloysius Church in Plantsville.

Maurice is survived by 10 children: Thomas Cayer and wife Ginny of Southington; Richard Cayer and wife Barbara of Bisbee, AZ; David Cayer and wife Cindy of Wolcott; Marguerite Maddalena and William Walsh of Portland; Edward Cayer and wife Lynne of Myrtle Beach, SC; Suzanne Cayer of Southington; Paul Cayer of Bristol; Jeanne Budarz and husband Mark of South Windsor; Douglas Cayer and wife Shane of Southington and Jeffrey Cayer and wife Jenn of Lakeland, FL; 46 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Delores “Dee” Jones and by a large extended family. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S.
