Michael J. Rabis, Sr.

Michael J. Rabis Sr., 87, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the HOCC at New Britain. He was the husband of the late Joan (Rogozinski) Rabis.

Born on August 17, 1937 in Southington to the late Joseph and Helen (Gladke) Rabis, he had been a lifelong Southington resident.

Mr. Rabis worked as a payloader operator and crew leader for the Connecticut DOT, retiring in 1992 after 36 years of service. He was a lifelong communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Southington. Mike was a devoted husband, dedicated father and loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved dogs, especially his beloved German Shepard, Jake. 

He is survived by his son, Darryl R. Rabis and two daughters, Denise Rabis and Doreen Wright and her husband Jeff, one grandson, Jeffrey Wright and his wife Deborah and two cherished great-grandchildren, Hunter and Lyndsey. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Jannetty and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Joan, he was predeceased by one son, Michael J. Rabis Jr., two sisters, Helen Bousquet and Jenny Jannetty and three brothers, Joseph, William and Edward “Bob” Rabis. 

Mr. Rabis’ family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at the HOCC at New Britain and to Dr. Letterio Asciuto for the compassion and the excellent care provided. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington.
