Michelle D. Rio

Michelle D. (Benoit) Rio, 59, of Southington, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Bristol Hospital.

Michelle was born on February 10, 1967 in Waterbury, CT. She worked for the State of Connecticut in the Department of Developmental Services and retired after 39 years of dedicated service. Michelle was a loving daughter, mother, sister and friend to many.

She is survived by two sons, Anthony Rio (Amanda Undari) and Matthew Rio, both of Southington, her father, John Benoit, Sr. and his wife Kathy of PA, one sister, Debra George and her husband David of Southington, stepfather, Robert Hooper of Southington and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Michelle was predeceased by her mother, Lorraine (Boulier) Hooper and her brother, John Benoit, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michelle’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society (American Cancer Society).

A memorial service will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
