Myrtle M. Smith

Myrtle M. (Smith) Smith, 96, of Southington and formerly of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the Orchards in Southington. She had been the loving wife of the late Thomas F. Smith for 57 years. 

Myrtle was born on April 8, 1925 in Smithville, Nova Scotia to the late Joseph Burton and Olive (Munro) Smith. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Southington, and a founding member of Grace Baptist Church of Cheshire. Myrtle treasured God’s Word and will be remembered for her love for her Savior, her family, and her church family.

She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Trocola and her husband Gary of Bristol, and 2 sons, Robert B. Smith and his wife Susan of Southington, and Ernest M. Smith and his wife Virginia of Plantsville; 10 grandchildren: Brint McLellan (Hallie), Matthew McLellan, Abigail Kessler (Greg), Elizabeth Carson (Hays), Hannah Fox (Mathew), Gabriel Zamorano (fiancé Tina & her daughter Charlotte), Miriam Dotson (Brad), Karen Foshay (Johnee), Christopher Smith (Kerianne), Philip Smith (Cara), and Marcelo Zamorano (by marriage); 19 great-grandchildren: Allison, Cole, Eastyn, Caleb, Madison, Gabriel Jr., Noah, Gracie, Brooke, Thomas, Kobe, Miriam, Levi, Connor, Brennan, Liam, Lucy, Lilliana, Natalie and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband Thomas, Myrtle was predeceased by her daughter Arleen McLellan, son-in-law, Richard McLellan, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church, 243 Laning St, Southington. Burial will be private in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, Cheshire. Visitation will be held before the service from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling.
