Neil McNamara, 63, of the Plantsville section of Southington, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. He was the devoted husband of Sandra McNamara and beloved father of his daughters, Morgan and Kaitlyn McNamara.
Neil was born on June 30, 1963, in East Hartford, CT, to the late Edward and Jean (Murphy) McNamara. He attended the University of Hartford and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting.
Neil served as Vice President and Controller at CATIC Insurance. Outside of his professional life, he was a passionate sports fan who rooted for the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and UCONN Huskies. He loved opening his home and heart to others, hosting gatherings that brought family and friends together. More than anything, Neil valued every moment spent surrounded by his family, friends, and loyal dogs.
In addition to his wife and daughters, Sandra, Morgan, and Kaitlyn, Neil is survived by his brother, Robert McNamara and his wife, Virginia, of Massachusetts; his sister, Anne Frechette and her husband Glenn, of East Hartford; his mother-in-law, Dulce Spatafore of Wolcott; and his in-laws, Dan Spatafore and his wife Susan, Linda Carlotto and her husband Steven, and Dianne Muller and her husband Phil, along with many loving nieces and nephews. He will also be deeply missed by his precious four-legged companions, Higgins, Bailey, Marley, Maggie, Charles, and Ivy. In God's care, Neil has been reunited with his parents, brother Kevin McNamara, and father-in-law Alphonse Spatafore.
Neil will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of family and friends, his passion for sports, and the unconditional love he shared with his treasured dogs.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Neil’s memory may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111 (www.cthumane.org/).
