Pamela G. Lapenta

Pamela G. (Daly) Lapenta, 79, of Southington, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 2, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Rocco A. Lapenta for 54 years.

Pam was born on June 7, 1944, in Hartford to the late John and Lucille (Nichols) Daly. Pam spent her early years in Hartford before her family moved to Windsor Locks. She graduated from Windsor Locks High School in 1962 and attended the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. Pam embarked on an almost fifty-year career in nursing starting at Hartford Hospital in Labor and Delivery. She went on to work in many nursing disciplines (geriatrics, traumatic brain injury, pediatrics, teaching, school nurse, pharmacy services). Family meant everything to Pam, hosting many holidays and celebrations. She was always there to cheer and support her grandchildren in all their endeavors. She loved UConn basketball, never missing a game on TV. She also took many trips with her longtime friend, Linda Lawrence, to support the Men’s and Women’s teams. She was an avid reader and loved the beach. She spent time sailing and camping with her family along the CT/RI shore where she developed special friendships with George & Elaine Stanek and Stan & Carol Szlachetka.  Pam will be remembered for her generosity and caring nature, her love of animals, her delicious meals, and sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Piascik (Jonah), Jill Symecko (Timothy), Julie Linden (Timothy); Grandchildren, Jonathan, Madeline, Chase, Anna, Evan, and Teagan; Siblings, Susan Daly-Rouse (Charles), Timothy Daly (Vicky), Barbara Bizier (Marcel) and Jane Daly; Sister-in-law, Dorothy Stoddard (William); Nieces: Erin, Susanne, Angel, and Katie; Nephews: Christopher, Andrew, and Will. In addition to her husband Rocco, she was predeceased by her stepmother, Selina Daly, brother, Peter Daly and her aunt and uncle, Virginia and Gilbert Bouvier.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Leonard Saltz, Dr. William Jarnigan, and Dr. Martin Weiser at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, Dr. Gerard Fumo at Midstate Hospital, the Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice Care team, and the caring aides from Assisted Living Services.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pam’s memory may be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, P.O. Box 5028, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5028 (MSK Donation Link) or the V Foundation, 14600 Weston Pkwy., Cary, NC 27513 (https://www.v.org/).
