Paul Cook Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away on October 29, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born on December 10, 1930, Paul was the son of the late Paul and Mary Cook . Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of trades, including positions with Pepsi-Cola Company and Rosler Meats. He spent many years as a truck driver and also worked in retail. Yet, when asked about the work he found most meaningful, Paul would always point to his time as a caretaker at Plainville Cemetery. It was there that he found his greatest sense of purpose and fulfillment, a reflection of the quiet dedication and appreciation for service that characterized his life.
Above all else, Paul was known for his unwavering devotion to the Lord. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he was a longtime and devoted member of Faith Bible Church in Plainville. His church family held a special place in his heart, and the relationships he shared with his brothers and sisters in Christ were among the many blessings of his life. His faith was not simply something he believed; it was an essential part of who he was.
Paul shared 29 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Valerie (Valentine) Cook.
In addition to his wife, Paul leaves behind his sister, Mary Lou (Vincent) Cappetta of Meriden, Connecticut; his daughters, Nancy (Vic) Rompa of Clear Lake, South Dakota; Mary (Tom) Samoska of Athens, Tennessee; Betty (Brian) Occhipinti of Wallingford, Connecticut; Lynn (Ray) Walsh of Bethany, Connecticut; and Tina Mascali Thorpe of Iowa; his son, Paul (Vicki) Cook of Greenback, Tennessee; and his stepson, Daniel Vellucci (Sonia Ratman) of Bristol, Connecticut.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Debbie Easley of Maine; Suewana Powell of Georgia; Mike Noel and Holly Noel of Connecticut; Chrissy Bennett of Illinois; Lorie Boucher and April Wisneski of Connecticut; Tyler Walsh and Dane Walsh of Connecticut; and Trevor Vellucci of Connecticut. His legacy continues through his many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom were part of the family he leaves behind.
Paul was predeceased by his parents; his infant daughter, Cynthia Louise Cook; his sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Paul Munzu; and his sister, Sharon Chapin.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Essam Nakhla and the staff at UConn Health Waterbury Hospital for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to Paul over the years, and especially during his final week. Their dedication and support will always be remembered.
Paul’s life was one marked by faith, hard work, devotion, and service. While his family and friends mourn his passing, they take comfort in the faith that sustained him throughout his life and the hope of eternal life that he so deeply believed in. He will be remembered not only for the years he lived, but for the faith he carried, the lives he touched, and the family and church community who will continue to cherish his memory.
Philippians 1:21 "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."
