The world said goodbye to Peter Bohn Beck’s earthly body on June 2, 2025 with his mother, older sister, and his wife holding his hand and supporting each other, with the song Kashmir by Led Zepplin playing in the background.
“Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face with stars to fill my dream.
I am a traveler of both time and space to be where I have been…”
Peter was born on December 12, 1977 in Exeter, NH to William and Katherine Beck and his two older sisters, Erica and Nicole who couldn’t wait to have him at home. His first few years were spent in Portsmouth, NH, while his childhood summers were spent outside in the sunshine on Pawtuckaway Lake in Nottingham, NH, camping in tents under the stars all summer long. His family moved to the house they built on that same property when Peter was going into first grade.
Peter attended schools in Nottingham; The Learning Skills Academy in Rye, NH; Oyster River High School; and had a short time at UNH where he was a member of the UNH Fraternity, Phi Mu Delta. It was at UNH that he met his wife Holly (Rasku) Beck.
Holly and Peter married in 2005. They lived in Newmarket and then Portsmouth, NH. Their son Morrison was born in 2006, completing their family. Of all of Peter’s accomplishments, he was most proud of Morrison and the young man he became. Pete’s athleticism from high school (baseball and volleyball) followed him to adulthood. He loved shooting hoops with Mo, but soon Morrison was sinking 3-pointers and out shooting Peter. And although he was a life-long Boston sports fan, his son was always his favorite athlete to watch.
As Morrison grew up, so did Peter’s art framing skills. After learning to frame at a young age, he quickly moved on to work in more sophisticated custom framing shops in NH before he and his family moved to CT. Over the decades he became a masterful framer, and found his passion for creating artistic frames while working with Jim Reinhart at the Wall Street Gallery in Madison, CT. In 2017 he was the winner of the PPFA International Framing Print Category and his “art around art” as Pete would say, was featured on the cover of “Picture Framing Magazine.”
Pete was easy to be around and was well liked by all. He had an infectious laugh and a big warm smile that made everyone feel welcome. He loved being around people, had a passion for listening to great music, cultivated astute artistic abilities, and gave freely of his skills and time. He watched a lot of YouTube videos and taught himself how to become an expert craftsman, renovating numerous bathrooms and several kitchens: tiling walls, laying floors, installing cabinetry, and even doing the electrical and plumbing. He helped family paint rooms, build swing sets, create stone walls, and landscape many yards. These things were done with a quick laugh and meticulous care.
Whether it was the frames he artistically customized for clients, the projects he did on his own home, or the things he did with others, he created things he was proud of. He would often describe in depth the materials used or the details that went into each piece or project, because it was the intricacies that mattered to him. In the last year of his life, he became a business owner and purchased Imagine It Framed in Avon, CT.
Throughout life Peter cared deeply about his family and friends and was a great listener when they had problems. As a final act of goodness for the world, Peter was able to donate his heart, his kidneys, and his liver. He would have been proud of the fact that he saved the lives of others in the end.
Peter is survived by his wife Holly Beck and son Morrison Beck, his parents, William Beck (m. Gina Durfee) and Kathy Beck, his siblings Erica Beck Spencer (Charlie and Anica) and Nicole Beck (Danny and Makenzie). He loved deeply Holly’s family and is survived by her parents, William and Mary Jane Rasku, and their children Jason Rasku and Iris Vicencio-Rasku (Ivy), Erik and Heather Martire (Adam and Mia), and Tom and Julie Donaldson (Kara, Lucas, and Mark).
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in honor of Peter’s paternal grandmother and beloved Uncle Rich who had Parkinsons (https://give.michaeljfox.org).
