Richard P. Black

Richard P. Black, 86, of Long Island, NY, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026.

Born in the Bronx on March 18,1940, Richie was the son of the late Anthony and Margaret Black.

Before his retirement, Richie was a proud member of IBEW Local 25, serving as an electrician in NYC and Long Island. A lifelong Yankees fan, he often reminisced about catching games in the outfield bleachers with his dad or watching from the train tracks above the field. Richie spent many hours working in his yard. He enjoyed volunteering at the library researching his family’s Irish history and helping others with their genealogy search. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life.

After a lifetime filled with travel, adventure and cherished memories, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years, Susan.

Richie is survived by his three children, Deborah Badgley, Tracey (Stephen) Carbone, and Richard (Violeta) Black; seven grandchildren, Shawna (Patrick) Day, Michael Badgley, Bethany (Ben) Melnick, Kelly (Greg) Mirando, Colleen (Patrick) Murphy, Ian Black, and Marina Black; and nine great grandchildren, Lyle and Bria Albrycht, Aria Badgley, Brooke, Lorelei and Kalliope Melnick, Avery and Hadley Mirando, and Oliver Murphy. He is also survived by his sister Eileen Curcio, sister-in-law Katherine Cohen, and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his loving wife, Richie was predeceased by his grandson David Badgley, sister Eveleen (Heinz) Rethwilm, and brother Kenneth (Isabella) Black. Brothers-in-law Walter Cohen & Joseph Curcio.
