Robert M. Houle, 93, of Southington, CT, passed away surrounded by his family on February 21, 2025 in Florida. He was the beloved husband of the late Rachel C. (Gelinas) Houle for 68 years.
Born on January 6, 1932 in Waterbury, CT to the late Henry and Florette (Boucher) Houle, he had been a longtime Southington resident.
Mr. Houle proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked at Pratt & Whitney as an aircraft mechanic, retiring after many years of service.
Bob was the ultimate handy man and could fix just about anything. He was very generous with his skills and helped his family as much as he could, even assisting in building their homes over the years. Bob enjoyed gardening, dancing and bowling with his wife Rachel and looked forward to traveling every year to visit their families in Canada. He was a wonderful husband and father and the best grandpa.
Bob is survived by his children, Jacques Houle and wife Elizabeth of Bristol, John Houle and wife Ingrid of FL, Carol Martin and husband Danny of Burlington, Diane Cayer of Southington and Tricia Martin and husband Paul of Bristol, fifteen grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, along with several great-grandchildren, including his great-grandson who he raised since infancy, Jaden Cayer of FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Rachel, Bob was predeceased by three grandchildren, Rachelle Cayer, Steven Mayo and Nolan Petro and all of his siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at St. Dominic’s Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the Mass from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S.
