Robert “Bobby” J. Hubeny, 84, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, February 25, 2022. He had been the loving husband of Nancy (Krulikowski) Hubeny for 63 years.

Robert was born on April 8, 1937 in Southington, one of seven, to the late Anthony and Sophie (Gladke) Hubeny and had been a lifelong Southington resident.

Bob worked alongside his family on Hubeny’s Farm for most of his life and co-owned Southington Meat Packing for many years. He loved nature and being outdoors, whether it be doing yardwork and watching the birds at his home or enjoying his cottage in New Hampshire.

In addition to his wife Nancy, Bobby is survived by 4 daughters, Karen Fitzgerald and her husband John of Bantam, Cathy Hubeny of Southington, Lynn Ludecke and her husband William of Southington and Sharon VanKooten and her husband John of Trafalgar, IN; 9 grandchildren; Nina Kowalewski, Steven Kowalewski (Heather), Heather Ludecke, Alicia Ludwinowicz (Kevin), Amie Ludecke, Haley Ludecke, Allison VanKooten, Matthew VanKooten and Keith VanKooten and 6 great-grandchildren.

 He is also survived by three sisters, Jennie Rinato, Sophie Barry and her husband Richard Paul and Patricia Tomczak, his brother David Hubeny and his wife Judy, sister-in-law, Ida Hubeny, all of Southington and several nieces and nephews.

Bobby was predeceased by his brother, Anthony "Sonny" Hubeny Jr, sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Lagana and brothers-in-law, Salvatore Lagana, John Rinato and Walter Tomczak.

Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Society for the Protection of NH Forests, 54 Portsmouth St, Concord, NH 03301-9965.
