Rocco Antonio Lapenta, 79, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Water’s Edge Center for Health and Rehab in Middletown. He had been the loving husband of Pamela (Daly) Lapenta for 54 years.
Rocco was born on December 8, 1942, in Hartford to the late Rocco B. and Vera (Wallace) Lapenta. Rocco spent his early childhood in the south end of Hartford before his family moved to Windsor Locks. He graduated from Windsor Locks High School in 1960. Rocco proudly served his country in the CT Air National Guard. He graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He went on to become a Graduate Fellow and earned his Master’s Degree in Industrial Relations from the University of New Haven. He had a lengthy career in Human Resources working at Hartford National Bank, Hartford Insurance Group and retired from Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Rocco enjoyed reading and was a history buff. He was a fisherman and loved teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He spent many years sailing and camping with his family along the CT/RI shore. Rocco will also be remembered for his storytelling, quick wit, and love of a good Italian meal.
In addition to his wife Pam, he is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Piascik (Jonah), Jill Symecko (Tim), Julie Linden (Tim); grandchildren, Jonathan, Madeline, Chase, Anna, Evan, and Teagan; sister, Dorothy Stoddard (William); sisters-in-law, Susan Daly-Rouse (Charles), Barbara Bizier (Marcel), Jane Daly; brother-in-law, Timothy Daly (Vicky); Nieces, Erin, Susanne, Angel, Katie; nephews, Christopher, Andrew, Will; and many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Peter Daly.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jarrod Post, Sara Jarrett-APRN, the second-floor staff at Water’s Edge, and the Masonicare Hospice team for the care and compassion they showed Rocco for the last two years and half years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rocco’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Masonicare Charity Foundation of CT.
