Roger H. Lamontagne, 90, of Southington, died peacefully at home on Monday, March 13, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and his cherished wife, Dolores. Born in Wolcott, raised in Waterbury, he was the son of the late Rose Anna and Apollinaire “Paul” Lamontagne.

Roger was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, godfather, grandfather, great-grandfather and Navy veteran. He is survived by the love of his life, Dolores (Duquette), of 70 years and his six girls: Debbie Ingemie, Linda Santucci, Lori Hira, Renee Adie, Bridget Dinklocker and Denise his sons-in-law, Jim, David, Jack and Mark and daughter-in-law Keara Langston. Pepe loved his grandchildren; Jeffrey and Melissa, Jason and Jennifer, Lindsay and Zack, Jennifer and Don, Jonathan, Mike and Jess, Jillian and Nick, Gina and Mark, Matthew, Bryan and Jacob; and great-grandchildren; Katelyn, Caroline, Ethan, Adrianna, Cassidy, Brayden, Bria, Joseph, Nicole and Adalyn.

Roger was predeceased by his brothers, Marcel and Raymond, his sister, Claire; his brother-in-law, Robert, and his sister-in-law, Marcella. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Judy and many nieces and nephews.

After Roger enlisted in the Navy in 1952, he was assigned to the U.S.S. Barton (DD-722), which sailed around the world twice during his four-year tour. The ship and its crew earned many military decorations as they served their country. He was a Third-Class Petty Officer Fire Control Technician. When he returned home, he started his career as an eyelet toolmaker, eventually retiring in 1994 as the General Manager of Eyelematic Manufacturing, Watertown, CT.

Roger was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Anne’s Parish in Waterbury and later St. Dominic’s Church in Southington. He helped raise six strong and independent women. He especially enjoyed traveling with Dolores, siblings and friends. Family time, whether at home or on vacation, was a favorite way to spend his day. Roger was always willing to lend a helping hand on any home improvement project. He loved socializing with his neighbors and playing bocce. Dancing with Dolores was his sweet spot and a memory his family will forever hold dear.

Roger’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank-you to his physicians, their staff, and to Masonicare Home Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Roger’s memory may be sent to St Jude’s Children Research Hospital (stjude.org).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Road, Southington. A burial will be held at a later date. A calling hour will be held before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St. Plantsville.
