Ronalee Herz

Ronalee Herz of Harwinton, CT, passed away on August 7th, 2024, at age 65, after battling breast cancer for 9 long years. Rona was born on November 24th, 1959 in New Britain, CT. She was the daughter of the late Ronald Wyckoff and Janice Wyckoff. Growing up in Georgia and parts of Connecticut, she settled down in Harwinton, CT in 1996 after marrying Steven Herz. Rona and Steve spent 40 blessed years together and celebrated 28 years of marriage. Together, they had two children, April Herz and Tyler Herz.

Despite moving frequently during her childhood, Ronalee never let it hinder her passions. She was always eager to immerse herself in the equestrian world, driven by her love for the sport. With her vibrant smile and extensive knowledge of horses, she often participated in western shows and people sought her out for her exceptional talents.

Standing at 5’ 4,” Rona was packed to the brim with love. This manifested as a stubborn desire to help everyone around her. She made countless lifelong friends and connections, impacting many with her bubbly personality and zest for life. Even when she felt down, her dedication to caring for others remained unwavering.

Rona channeled her desire to help others through her education. She attended Manchester Community College and earned her associate’s degree in occupational therapy. She later graduated and became a successful certified occupational therapist in Litchfield County. She worked with children of all ages through programs such as Easterseals, Litchfield Public Schools and Brooker Memorial, where she was affectionately known by the children as “Miss Rona.”

Despite her busy schedule, she always found time to travel with her friends and family, creating endless memories with those she loved. In addition to her husband and children, she leaves behind her beloved furry companions, Mason, Suki and KitKat. Rona leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship and will always be remembered and admired for her enduring strength.
