Rosalie “Rose” S. (Radzewicz) Getsie passed away peacefully at her Southington home on September 27, 2025. She was the devoted wife of the late John “Jack” Getsie, III for 55 years.
Rose was born on January 3, 1939 in New Britain, CT to the late Stanley and Frances (David) Radzewicz. She earned her master’s degree in education from Central Connecticut State University and taught primarily at Thalberg School in Southington. In the classroom, Mrs. Getsie was admired for her patience, kindness, and genuine care for every child.
Rose enjoyed time on the Connecticut and Maine coasts, birdwatching, and playing the piano. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and her unwavering positivity, compassion, and perseverance live on in their hearts. She will be remembered for being a woman of deep faith and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Rosalie is survived by her son, John Getsie and his wife Dorothy, daughter, Pamela Sminkey and her husband Jude, and four grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha, Kyler, and Carson. She is also survived by her sisters, Wanda Radzewicz and Connie Brown, brother Steve Radziewicz and his wife Norma, and beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Jack, Rose was predeceased by her brother, Frank Radzewicz and his wife Lynnet, and her brother-in-law, Ken Brown.
