Rosalie M. Rich

Rosalie M. (Donahue) Rich, 83, of Plantsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at MidState Medical Center.

Rosalie was born on April 17, 1942, in New Britain, to the late Thomas and Mary (Viele) Donahue. She attended schools in Southington and resided here most of her life, after her family moved from Bristol when she was very young.

She is survived by two daughters, Tara Cyr and husband Jeffrey of Plantsville and Tracey Rich and husband Bernie Brodeur of Southington, as well as her two grandchildren, Jordan Cyr and Tyler Cyr and his wife Allyson. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Kathy Campbell of Southington, along with her sister, Debra Piper and husband Paul, brother-in-law, Richard Tully, and two nieces, Ashley Piper and Erin Ripley with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Karen (Donahue) Tully.

Prior to retirement, Rose worked tirelessly as a waitress in different local establishments, where she shared her smile with so many and was well regarded by all as “Rose” or “Rosie.” During that time, she also completed some college courses and later worked as a legal secretary. Without a complaint and always with pride, she worked hard to give her daughters everything they ever needed.

Rosalie lived a simple, quiet life, content to just be with her family or to join them on any adventure she was able to. Being a grandmother to her “boys” was definitely her favorite past time. No matter how she was feeling, she always showed up. She attended so many of Tyler’s baseball games and watched Jordan perform in many musicals, as well as any of their many other activities, always their greatest supporter. She was also blessed to be a part of Tyler’s wedding to her new granddaughter, Ally.

She was “Grandma Roe Roe” to so many that had adopted her as their own, welcoming anyone that came through her door through the years. Especially at Christmas, when she would open her home to anyone who didn't have plans of their own, whether it be family or friend, she would just add another chair. She was a beautiful example of love and acceptance that will not be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosalie’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org/).
