Stephen Olean, Jr.

Stephen Olean, Jr. 82, from the Milldale section of Southington passed peacefully at HOCC New Britain, on Friday, June 7, 2024. 

Stephen was born in Norwalk, CT on February 13, 1942. Growing up in Westport, and graduating from Staples High School, Stephen later moved on to Lafayette College earned his B.A. degree, and received his Masters degree from the University of Hartford.  He spent over 30 successful years working as a relationship manager at Aetna in Hartford & Middletown.

Stephen proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and received the distinguished Purple Heart medal. 

When Stephen wasn’t sailing his boat on Long Island Sound he could often be found bowling 200+ games in the local league. He was also an extremely active member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Southington. 

Stephen was predeceased by his beloved wife of 34 years Jean (Douglas) Olean in 2002 and daughter Kylie E. Douglas Olean in 2016. He is survived by his son, Kevin Olean of Milldale, and his two grandchildren Alexandra Spencer and Edward Olean.  Stephen is also survived by two brothers, Arnold Olean and David and his wife Beverly Olean both of Maine.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 145 Main St., Southington.  For online condolences and directions, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
