Teresa C. Giammatteo

Teresa (Ciotti) Giammatteo, 94, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025 at Southington Care Center. She had been the loving wife of the late Joseph A. Giammatteo for 60 years.

Teresa was born on June 29, 1930 in New Rochelle, NY to the late Paul and Maria “Stella” (Mignani) Ciotti and had been a longtime Southington resident.

Terri graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School and earned her teaching degrees from Central Connecticut State University ultimately achieving her Sixth Year Degree in Special Education. She worked in the Southington School System for 30 years, retiring in 1995.

Terri will be fondly remembered for her love of lobster, penguins, the beach, her amazing cooking skills, and hosting countless family Christmas Eve parties that provided wonderful memories for many generations. She enjoyed an active retirement filled with family, traveling, shopping and entertaining. She also volunteered at Bread for Life. Most of all, Terri will be remembered for her unwavering love and support for her husband Joe, her family, and her friends. She will be missed always.

Terri is survived by three sons: Paul and wife Martha of Southbury, John and wife Katey of Middlefield and Thomas and wife Anastasia of Wethersfield, four grandchildren, Anne Giammatteo Whitfield and husband Sean of Centerville, VA, John Harland Giammatteo and Adrienne Lee of Buffalo, NY, Hope Giammatteo and Eric Giammatteo, both of Middlefield and two great-grandchildren, Jameson Whitfield and Abigail Whitfield. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Joe, Terri was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Sharon Giammatteo and her sister, Maria Kramer and husband Richard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. There are no calling hours. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
