Tyler Thomas Porter, 21, of Southington, CT, passed away unexpectedly in Houston, Texas, on Monday, May 4, 2026, after sustaining injuries from a motor vehicle accident, just a few days after celebrating his 21st birthday. Though his life was tragically cut short, the impact he made will be felt far and wide.

Tyler was born on May 1, 2005 in New Britian, youngest son of Thomas Porter Jr. and Stacey (Jubert) Porter. Tyler attended Southington Schools before leaving to pursue his passion in gaming. Ultimately, he earned his high school diploma through Penn Foster High School, graduating 2 years early.

Tyler turned his passion for gaming into a successful career, making a name for himself as Tyler “Sym” Porter, “Symrifle,” and the Twitter/X handle “SYMSTAR” in the gaming world. “Sym” fulfilled four major professional gaming contracts at the most elite level. As a Master of the game Valorant, he achieved the status of “King” to millions of gamers all over the world.

Tyler lived life to the fullest, enjoying the finer things it had to offer. He was a selfless young man who was loved by so many.

In addition to his parents Stacey Jubert Porter of Southington and Thomas Porter Jr. (Elizabeth) of Plainville, he is survived by his brother, Trevor Porter, maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Jubert and paternal grandparents, Thomas Sr. and Connie Porter, all of Southington. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family including his aunt, Melissa Tillotson (Adam) of Plainville, his uncle, Jake Jubert of NY and cousin, Amanda Patterson (Tanner) of South Windsor, along with many cherished friends whose lives he forever touched. Tyler was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Jeddie Jubert and his aunt and Godmother, Kelly Zeitel.
