Vera I. (Miller) Dehnel, 86, of Southington, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 10, 2016.

Born January 12, 1930 in East Haven to the late John and Ethel (Nettleton) Miller, she had been a longtime Southington resident.

Vera was a witty and independent woman with a strong work ethic. She always stayed active and enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing and bowling.

She is survived by two sons: Richard Dehnel Jr. and his wife Laurie and Ronald Dehnel and his wife Teresa and her daughter, Susan Pierpont, all of Southington; three grandchildren: Manda Krause and her husband Bruce of Wolcott; Roy Neumann and his wife Krystle of Bristol and Rachel Dehnel of Southington and 2 great-grandchildren, Molly and Trevor. She also leaves behind her brother Richard A. Miller of West Haven, several nieces and nephews and her cat Princess. She was predeceased by 13 siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
