It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of the most loving, generous sister and aunt, Virginia S. “Ginny” Desautels, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at HOCC at New Britain.  

Virginia was born in New Britain, CT on March 16, 1944, daughter of the late Alden and Dorothy (Putney) VanGorder. She grew up in New Britain and graduated from Pulaski High School, Class of 1963.

Ginny worked for several years at GE in Plainville and then retired from The Hartford after many years of service. 

Ginny was a longtime Southington resident. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going on vacations, a few trips to the casino and playing bingo. Her family was of the utmost importance and she will be greatly missed.

Ginny is survived by two sisters and one brother, Lee Cole of Plantsville,  Deanna Tino of Plainville and William VanGorder and his wife Peggy of Southington; five nieces and one nephew: Debbie Cole, Candy Fischer, John Cole (Tara), Sandra VanDeusen (Dwight), Cathy Goralski and Carrie Calandra (Gabe); ten great-nieces and nephews: Maggie, Andrew, Kyle, Jessica, Emily, Oliver, Kathryn, Ava, Molly and Sean and many great-great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her longtime friends, Scott and LeAnn Greenlaw and their daughter Sydney, who affectionately called her “Nana.” In addition to her parents, Ginny was predeceased by one sister, Carol Gosselin and her nephew, Brian Goralski.

Calling hours will be held from 1– 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. For online condolences and directions, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
