Doris Chevrette, also known as Dee, passed away on June 23, 2020. She was born in Waterbury on January 25, 1935 to Roland Joseph and Corinne (Vezina) Chevrette, both communicants of The Shrine of Saint Ann.
Doris, attended Saint Ann’s grammar school, Waterbury Catholic High School and Fordham University prior to becoming a member of the Congregation of Notre Dame. While a member of the Congregation, Doris finished her Education and became a certified educator herself.
Her teaching experience (specialty) evolved and focused upon the inner city schools of Hells Kitchen (New York City), with emphasis on grade school bi-lingual learning. This expertise was utilized to its full potential by Meriden, Connecticut School System for many years, to the benefit of many (now) successful men and women. Miz Chavet as she was known will be long remembered by her former students.
Doris (Dee) is survived by her sister Claudette (Chevrette) Naud and her husband Guy Naud of Montreal, Canada, a brother Arthur Roland and his wife Janet (Pepin) Chevrette of Plantsville, Connecticut and two nephews David Chevrette and Michael Chevrette, his wife Kathy (Marteney) Chevrette and niece Beverlee Chevrette, all of Southington. Doris enjoyed a special bond and soft spot in her heart for two Grand Nephews, David and friend Amy and Matthew and wife Jillian.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doris might best be directed to each individual’s personal charity. For that, the Chevrette family is most appreciative
In view of the current health crisis and in consideration for the well-being of the many mourners who might otherwise attend, there will be no social gathering after the church service and no gathering for the burial. We ask that in lieu of both events, each mourner take a moment to reflect upon the gift of life and gift to the world that was named Doris.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020 at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St. Plantsville. Plantsville Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
